What's in a name?
Ever wondered where the "Knickerbockers" name came from? I was wondering that just today, and found this New York Knickerbockers Wikipedia article interesting.

While interesting, the article is about the baseball knickerbockers, not the basketball knickerbockers. The NY Knickers are named after Father Knickerbocker, a symbol of old NY, the equivalent of Uncle Sam as a symbol for the United States. Father Knickerbocker was a fictional character of Washington Irving, who also wrote under the pen name of Dietrich Knickerbocker.
